Resolved Question: Is my degree worthless? Am I never going to find employment now?
I am graduating from college this spring, and I worked difficult. I am graduating with a bachelor's degree in communications with a minor in international business. I thought it was a good degree at the time, but I am having no responses about job opportunites where I'm seeing my engineering friends walk out of college with a great job. I studied abroad, worked at several university offices, and completed an internship. I know I want to work on the global level which is why I pursued a minor in international business and studied abroad. I was thinking the direction of public affairs, corporate communications, or marketing at a big global company, and eventually earn a master's degree in multicultural communications or international affairs. I know a lot of communications majors are stereotyped as being non-motivated and lazy, but I don't believe I am. I chose it because it interested me. I was smart enough to do engineering, but it completey bored me. What are your suggestions? I've been applying for jobs like crazy, but have had no luck. Should I go back and try and do something else? else? I was close to getting a minor in statistics, but didn't end up doing that. Is my degree worthless?

Resolved Question: Sexism. Have the roles reversed (slightly)?
Back in the day, women were treated unjustly of being incompetent and unworthy; be that for careers or social status. Thanks in big to feminist organizations and influential characters, alot (if not every) of that has been dissolved. lady have equal (if not greater) opportunites at careers. The stay-at-home mom is now a choice, not a commitment of being a parent. But I'm afraid that in our desire to balance the table we may have overlooked the male side. Like I said, businesses are often looking for female employees in an effort to better balance their corporation. Although this is viewed is ridding the country of sexism, it also offers females an advantage when it comes to employment in the here and now. In the media, women are portrayed as sex symbols, but also as intelligent. How many times do you look a man the butt of a joke insulting his intelligence in a commercial or tv show? In the media? There are women activist groups. As far as I can tell, there aren't any men activist groups. Or atleast, they receive no attention. The most prevalent cancer charities are breast cancer charities. Breast cancer is the third deadliest cancer in the US (after lung and colon). Prostate is fourth, with ovarian rounding out the top 5. Breast cancer research raises more money than the other 4 combined (excluding cigarette awareness ads) and over 10 times as much as prostate cancer. There are marches and events in the name of breast cancer. Prostate events are few and receive little attention. Two weeks ago, my local hospital created department of women's health stating that "research has shown that when women are healthy, society is healthy". Yeah, except for the other 50%. Women's studies is now a course you can take. While I support learning more about a lady's role in our history, science, and politics, it should be taught in those classes and not in a seperate class devoted entirely to women. It seems that if a man stands up for men, they are seen as sexist. If a lady stands up for women, they are a hero. Don't receive me wrong, their are sexists out there, both male and female. But most are at the extreme ranges of anti-feminism and pro-feminism. I am only giving the male perspective. There is a female perspective that I'm sure is very different from mine. Also, there will be many men who don't agree with me. Either my views are wrong or their views have been influenced by today's supposed pro-equality society and values. I'd adore to hear any side. I apologize for the typos. Got through it pretty quick. To both Donna and Marx - It's easier to blame the wage "gap" on sexism than it is to say women on average work at lower paying jobs than their male counterparts. When you look at a lady's pay in regards to the field they're in compared to a man's, it is more or less equal. People seem to have a problem with the numbers and manipulate them to argue their point. Women, on average, make less than males when considering every job lumped into one. When considering individual jobs, that is not the case. To Donna - Just like I don't support reparations to African American's for a past wrong-doing, I don't support reparations for women for a past wrong-doing. I have not committed an act against women. I support equality (the real definition of equality, not the one that many people believe implies revenge for women). To Merry - Where I'm from, the government has stipulated that if a man and a lady have equal or close equal qualifications, the lady will be selected for the job. When a man stands up for men like i have in this post. I'm glad that i have not been labeled that way as of yet. Perhaps there should be no women or men activists groups, and merely a group aimed at equality. Feminists are not that group.

Resolved Question: MBA with no real work experience?
Like many others this economy is making it nearly impossible for me to find any viable work opportunites. I have a bachelors in Marketing. I have been looking for nearly a year now with nothing in sight. I'm thinking about going back to school, but the only masters program I really have the requirements for would be an MBA program. Two of the schools I am looking to apply to say they have no required work experience for admittance but the average age of their students is about 30. I am 24. I feel like it would be totally inappropriate for me to apply for this program. I called them and they encouraged me to apply and told me they do in fact have 22 year olds there with nothing but an undergrad degree. My question for those who have any experience would be whether or not I could clip it in an MBA program. I am very good with textbook work but still very hazy on real world business application since no one wants to give me a chance to take it on. I did very well in undergrad, but I expect an MBA is different. I want to attend in order to network with other business folks and take advantage of internship opportunites through the school. I didn't take advantage of these when I was an undergrad which has made finding work that much harder. Is this a viable plan? Would you suggest an alternate approach? Would I be totally out of place and lost with no real work experience if I am admitted? Any help is appreciated. Thank you for the answers so far. I agree that going to a top business school would be the best choice however I have check them out and indeed they want the experience. Now I am only leaning toward going to a lower tier B-school because I feel this is a good time to further my education as I don't look myself finding a stable job at the time being. I adore to meet new people and like I said another of my goals is to network with people in the fields I would be looking at. I just am afraid of not being able to complete the work in an adequate fashion. Any additional feedback would be great.

Resolved Question: International Business/Finance online colleges & opportunities?
Does any one know of an online school that is regionally accredited that is affordable (preferably no more than $250/credit) and offers bachelor degrees in either International Business or Finance? Any one know of any opportunities working in Japan with these? I tutor myself Japanese. I've finished about 2yrs of study with a knowledge of 800 kanji and beginning Intermediate grammar topics. I have 60+ Japanese magazines, 30 or so Japanese novels and of course tons of textbooks/reference books. So I'm pretty set on learning the language. I want to know what nice of opportunites are available with a business degree in Japan. International or finance is my interest, I can't look how accounting would be useful going overseas since I would learn the american system of accounting and it's apparently different in international realms. Or any recommendations/information on opportunites, requirements, degrees, etc. would be especially welcome.

I'm doing a bit of research and have found several possibilities for working from my home office that are not home based businesses but actual jobs. They are for the most part difficult to land and I thought perhaps some people on the Answers Community would provide some input. Resolved Question: Can any new mothers understand/sympathise with me?
I'v been married 2years and my husband and i have been really close. But he has never managed to find a proper job despite having a masters degree in IT.He got opportunites of well-paid contract work, but didn't take it as I was pregnant and he didnt want to leave me on my possess...despite the fact that he would have made good money and could have flown home to look me every weekend. Then when i was 8months pregnant he decided to go into business 300 miles away with a pal knowing that there would be a long difficult struggle ahead and no quick money in hand. Its now been 5 months that he's been "working" away and we have only seen a few hundred pounds as yet. The baby is now 4 months old...and I have been left on my possess to look after her. This is despite me having Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia...and also having a c-section. I also have no family at every to help me. I also am struggling financially. He left for work 3days after i came home form hospital with the baby. Now he only comes home for 3-4days every 10-14days or so. When i tell him that i'm hurt that he left me like this in this situation, he tells me to receive over it and move on...cos whats happened has happened! He says that he loves me and is doing this for us.He has apologised though!! But i struggle on a daily basis with my health and looking after the baby alone. And he won't even hear to my moans and groans which have every been caused by him. I am so confused about where my life's going.I feel like i have been thrown into the deep end and have got no-one to turn to.Sometimes i feel like i hate him..other times i miss him and adore him.Do I have a right to vent my daily feelings, struggles and hurt or should I just close up and receive on with it? I have tried to receive on with it...but find it very difficult when i am feeling so sick, sleepy and isolated. Have i got Post natal depression? Can anyone give me some advice or help? thanks for every the answers. it really has helped me:) It will be difficult to chose a best answer now:) Fibromyalgia is pain in muscles. I have constant aching pain every over....also stiffness which limit mobility and ability to do anything. Then there are some muscles which are more painful than others. It stops you from being able to walk, exercise or do much else. Its almost like having a lactic acid build up in your muscles. Its an autoimmune disorder. Cos when you do something...ur body "attacks" itself and make the pain more extreme. There are fibromyalgia pain points every around the body. Also you can receive IBS and digestive problems, depression, anxiety, lack of concentration, etc. Its not a nice thing to have as it takes away the quality of your life. I have found that homoeopathic medicine has helped. But the things that have helped me most are acupuncture, chiropracter and regular massage. If you google fibromyalgia you will find good websites that cover it. the icy weather and especially rain and wet weather makes it worse.they tend to prescribe anti-depressants for the pain. but i didn't take them. i found homoeopathic tablets "arnica" helped with the muscle pains.it really is about managing the illness and the pain.wish ur mum feels better soon.

Voting Question: How do I stop feeling like a failure in life?
I feel bad because I've done so bad in school, this year I had to drop out of college, so basically I was at home every the time. I have a job working for my parents, I help our around the home and sometimes I help my pal with her business but I still feel lazy and overall unsucessful, I feel like I am not learning anything new or being productive. Especially compared to my friends, who have good jobs, do well in school, do volunteer work, are involved in clubs or activities and travel, while I just stay at home most of the time. I feel like I am not living life to the fullest, most people my age go out with their friends and have fun, which I don't do either. I have talents but I don't know where or how to use them, and I feel like nobody would even appreciate them. I am always beating up myself about how bad I have done in life and why can't I be more like others. I don't know how to cease feeling like a failure and what I can do to be successful because I don't receive very many opportunites for that.

Resolved Question: My views on government...?
I just felt like expressing my views... 1. I believe philosophy is overrated. Philosophers try taking the world and summarazing it in one sentence. The world is too complicated for that. 2. The idea of a melting pot is a good but in the long run cant stand unless it is extremely liberal and the government doesnt involve itself in the peoples lives so much because everyone is coming from different places and have COMPLETELY different views. 3. That brings me to my next point. Socialism is BADDDD. Im sorry to say but it has to be tough luck for needy people because if the government continues to tax wealthy people more than needy than there is no progress at every. Why should anyone work then no? That is my problem with Obama. If you like the idea of a communist running the country move to cuba 4. I like the idea of our nations government system, however the presidential candidates really have to be a person strong in strategy tactics. These guys are not as smart as bill gates or einstein or even close. sorry to say. 5. Illegal immigrants have to be deported. I hate to say it. We are paying for their education and healthcare. I understand they do the tiny jobs nobody else wants but maybe thats why kids are so spoiled. there are no job opportunites for them. Id adore to make money and clip peoples yards [im 15] 6. Government shouldnt receive involved in a lot of the stuff that it is. I believe it should be the charity organizations who donate, and independent businesses to arrive up with new products. 7. Voting Question: What's the easiest/most profitable business to start (or thing to sell) online?
This is a serious question for people who are in the e-commerce trenches right now. I'm not looking for "MAKE 80K/WEEK ONLINE IN YOUR SPARE TIME!" crap. I'm not looking for "turn-key home business opportunites" or multi-level marketing BS. I'm not selling vitamins to my friends and neighbors or having "parties". I don't want to be a pornmaster affiliate. I don't want to fill out surveys or be a secret shopper, etc. I want to sell things online, most likely through Amazon's or Yahoo's marketplace or something like that. I don't care necessarily what the "thing" is. Ideally, I'd like to have as little inventory around my tiny apartment at any given time but other than that, I just want to know what the easiest thing to sell is and how/where to sell it. Everything else will be reported as spam. Thanks in advance to the legitimate e-retailers who answer this.

Resolved Question: I'm feeling like the woman in the relationship and I don't like it?
Okay I adore my baby's mom but me and her have had our ups and downs, and we've broke up and gotten back together about 4 times now. The first time we borken up was because of her hormones and stuff during pregnancy and I was away for about 2 1/2 months until the baby was born, I was fellinf that she was becoming distant with me and that my need for her was causing stress so I decided to take a break and give her space so we did, during that time some stuff happend were she thought that I left her and she stopped returning my calls and so we were officially broken up. Once the baby was born I came back we wern't offically back together but she wanted me around to be there for her and the baby, but I wanted to have her back as my girlfriend but she didn't want that...So something happend were we got into another arguement and I left for about a month. Now the second time I left it was a little bit different then the first because when I left I was not talking to anyone, but secon time I left I began talking to a young lady and one thing led to another and we slept together. Okay after the month passed by my babys mom once again called me up and said that she wanted me back, and so I dropped the other girl because I really wanted my baby's mom. Meanwhile once I was back together with my babys mom I conffesed that I slept with the girl during our second break up and I told her the turth that I was lonley and thats every it was (FYI since then I have not been with anyone else), and then she confessed to me that she met a guy and had a little crush on him while I was away as well. And at first it didn't bother me until one day I was being nosy and I read in her juarnal that the guy would arrive over the home and huge on her and stuff, but there was nothing in there that they had SEX which is a plus. Okay I started getting jealous and started questing weither or not she still had feelings for this guy and if she really wanted me rather then him, so I confronted the guy and asked him if anything happend when I was away. The guy looked me in my eyes and said "Yo im married" and I took that and left it alone, but it fired back at me, beacuse the guy called my baby's mom home and got her number and told. My babys mom told me that the guy called to receive her number and I confessed that I spoke to him becasue I was suspecting that she still had feelings for him, so one thing led to another and I left again. Now precently we are back together and she told me that nothing ever happend between her and the married guy, and that she had pleanly of opportunites to snooze with him but she never did. I felt like **** because her I was accusing her of still messing around with someone when she wasn't, plus when we weren't together it wasn't my business if she was talking to anyone. Shoot I slept with another girl when we broke up, but I was the one who got jealous and acussed her of still being unfaithful. I was wrong I understand and admitt it, I should have left it alone. Now were are together again I find myself acting like the lady in the relationship becasue of every of this. Im not going to lie I still adore her and I want to fix us, and lately I have been feeling the lady in the relationship, by reading into her actions and questioning were do I stand with her. She needs a strong man not a man who is insecure about himself and the relationship, so what can I do to receive right and not be the lady in the relationship. Sorry for writing a book.

Resolved Question: What should i do? Please help!?
I am a 19 year old single mom of a 2 year old. I am engaged, but my fiance lives in texas and i live in virginia. I had moved to texas with him and we moved in with his sister but that situation didnt work out so i came back to virginia and moved in with my mom. I need some advice because I am now faced with the decision to move to texas once he gets an apartment, or stay here. Their are pros and cons to each situation and i find myself going around in circles. If we move to texas, austin texas, its a lot cheaper to live there but we wouldnt have any family there. Its beautiful and warm there, and we have plenty of friends with kids for my son to play with. On the other hand, staying here in virginia would mean it would take a lot longer for us to receive a place and move in together. Their are more employment opportunites in Austin, than in Chesapeake, VA. We would also have family. And I have found a school program here for nursing that I would adore to attend. I also have a few interviews lined up for receptionist positions at various companies. But its more expensive to live in Virginia. My fiance wants to live in Austin, as do I, but I want to do whats best for my son. Even though we have family here we are not on the best of terms with them. My family doesnt like my fiance and vice versa. On another note, his dad lives here and had a heart attack about a year ago, he is now in a facility because he keeps trying to commit suicide after losing his home and family business because he could no longer work. I think its important my fiance be here with his dad but I know how much more difficult it will be for us to live here and for my fiance to find a job. He has a job already lined up in Austin. As you can look I am very confused as to what to do and was hoping to receive some second opinions on this matter.
